María Eugenia Mayobre (Venezuela, 1976) grew up in Italy, France and Venezuela. She holds a Master’s Degree in Communication and Education from the University of Barcelona in Spain, and has been a professor in universities of Venezuela and United States. Her first novel El mordisco de la guayaba (Biting the Guava) won the First Biennial Novel Prize of Ediciones B Venezuela and was published in France by Nil Éditions (2020) and Pocket (2021), and currently is being adapted into a TV series. Her first feature-length script, ‘Not Like Mom’ won the 2009 Emerson Annual Screenwriting Prize. Blackstar is her second novel. María Eugenia lives in Boston and works as a producer for a languages learning podcast.
