Grettel Jiménez Singer was born in Havana, Cuba. Migrated to the U.S. at age 14, and later earned a bachelors degree in Latin American and Spanish Literature from Florida International University. She is the author of Mujerongas, a collection of essays and short stories about everyday life of Latin women, and Tempestades solares, her first novel. Both publications are originally in Spanish. Grettel is currently working on the draft of her first novel in English. She lives in Manhattan with her two daughters and is the editor and writer for the blog mujerongas.com.
