Grethel Delgado Alvarez is a Master's student at Florida International University, originally from Cuba. She moved to the U.S. at 28 to pursue her passion for press freedom. With a background in acting and television, she is now studying multimedia journalism. Delgado Alvarez contributes to Diario Las Americas and the South Florida News Service. She won second place in the 2019 SPJ Florida College Scholarship, impressing judges with her dedication to journalism and appreciation for the First Amendment.
