Fereshteh Toosi


Fereshteh Toosi is an Iranian-born interdisciplinary artist who uses cultural icons to explore current events and popular mythologies through work in video, sound, performance, and public intervention. Fereshteh received a BA from Oberlin College and worked in Japan for two years before completing their MFA from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Art.

They have taught media art in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and was the Faculty Fellow in Arts and Civic Engagement at Syracuse University before joining the New Millennium Studies program at Columbia College Chicago. They are currently a faculty member at Florida International University and recently received grants from Oolite Arts and the Knight Foundation.
