Danny Mixon, Pianist

Daniel Asbury Mixon is a titanic figure in American jazz. Mixon was born in Harlem, New York City. He gained some attention in the 1970s and continues to record and play in New York and abroad. His Piano style and skill is unmatched, and he has worked with such legendary performers as Lionel Hampton, Joe Williams, and Frank Foster, among so many others. Danny was formerly the Musical Director of the Legendary Lenox Lounge and was briefly the Musical Director at the newly restored Minton's. Danny is an instructor and performance artist with the Jazzmobile as well as instructing at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, along with private instruction.
